GDT2104 Game Studies

Description:
The primary focus of this unit is on the aesthetic, cultural and communicative aspects of computer games. Students will be introduced to the latest theories about computer games and their function within contemporary culture including: computer games as a new aesthetic form, concepts of genre within computer games, the impact of the idea of simulation; and postmodern notions of the self in relation to avatars, computer game space and interactivity.
