M40 Bachelor of Nursing

For Registered General and Registered Mental Health Nurses (Hospital Trained)

 

This course is designed to upgrade to a Bachelor of Nursing the qualifications of existing registered nurses with a hospital-based diploma or equivalent Tertiary diploma award. The course requires twelve months full-time study or part-time equivalent which should be completed within six years of initial enrolment.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The course is available by full-time or part-time study on Churchlands campus, at the South West campus (Bunbury) and is delivered Internationally. It is also available by external study.  

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be currently registered nurses and show evidence of recent practice.

 

COURSE STRUCTURE

The course consists of eight units of study comprising four core units and four electives.

# Students seeking advanced standing must undertake these two units. Students eligible for advanced standing may apply for up to five (5) units of credit (75 credits).

*Registered mental health nurses may choose an alternative unit.

International students are required to undertake the recommended electives.

** This unit (Nursing Practice International Conversion) is for International onshore students who seek eligibility to registration with the Nurses Board of Western Australia. Students will enrol in this unit as their final unit in lieu of NNT3202.

International onshore students seeking eligibility to register with the Nurses Board of WA must also meet the following requirements:

1. Approval from the course coordinator
2. Completed an academic IELTS overall score of 7 with a minimum of 6.5 for listening&reading and 7 for speaking&writing, or an Occupational English Test (OET) with a B pass in each section&overall score of B.
3. Completed the School of Nursing, Midwifery&Postgraduate Medicine risk management protocol including vaccination schedule and MRSA screening.
4. Completed Manual Handling certification.
5. Completed a current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certification.
6. Have a current police clearance, and
7. Achieved 100% pass in medication calculations using the prescribed CD ROM purchased from the ECU bookshop
