The Bachelor of Arts (Education)/Bachelor of Design course will prepare graduates to teach Design and Technology in the Technology and Enterprise Learning Area in schools. The course provides students with theoretical and practical skills and understandings in design, multimedia, visual communication, engineering and fabrication. The course will emphasise the innovative use of the technologies to solve problems found in industry and every day life. Graduates will be expected to use this knowledge and skills to produce designs, models, and artifacts appropriate for school students that take account of appropriate aesthetic and commercial criteria.
Graduates will be equipped to teach Design and Technology in secondary schools from years 8-12, with a capacity to specialise in new courses of study in the post-compulsory years that are related to the Technology and Enterprise Learning Area.
Course Location and Mode of Study The Bachelor of Arts (Education)/Bachelor of Design is available by full-time or part-time study on the Mount Lawley campus. Some units will be taught at a TAFE campus.

Special Exit Points Students who complete only three years of study will be able to qualify for a Bachelor of Design, subject to meeting the course structure of that award,
Professional Recognition Graduates will qualify as four-year trained teachers and be able to meet teacher registration requirements in all Australian states.
Course Structure
The course comprises of thirty six units of study (480 credit points) with twenty units being studied in the Bachelor of Arts (Education) and 16 units from the Bachelor of Design. The Bachelor of Design component incorporates an eight unit Major.
