G17 BACHELOR OF ARTS (EDUCATION)/BACHELOR OF ARTS 
 

The double degree program is designed for prospective secondary school teachers of Society and Environment/Social Science. Students combine professional education studies with specialist content studies in two teaching areas. Graduates will have a qualification in both Education and their selected field in Arts.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Standard university admission requirements apply.

 

A Police Clearance is required on admission.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The course is available by full-time or part-time study on Mount Lawley campus.

The general structure of the program is set out above. This is followed by detailed requirements for general studies in Social Sciences.

Note: Within the double degree structure the number of first year units chosen from the Social Science General Studies selections should not exceed seven.

 

General Studies A

YEAR ONE

Select one first year unit from each of History, Geography, Politics and Economics.

 

YEAR TWO

Select one second year unit from each of three of the disciplines chosen in first year.  A fourth unit may be selected from either Law, Sociology/Anthropology or Aboriginal Studies or from one of the disciplines chosen in first year.

 

YEAR THREE

Select two third year units in each of two disciplines studied previously in Year One.

 

General Studies B and Curriculum B

Select an approved four units from another teaching specialisation.

Select two curriculum B units.

Note: Major students are advised to select the Social Sciences that are part of the Year 11 and 12 Social Science Curriculum (i.e. History, Geography, Politics and Government, and Economics).
