MAN7111 Advanced Seminar in Management VII
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
Credit Points: 15

Description:
This unit develops insights into contemporary management issues from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Candidates’ analytical and critical thinking skills will be developed by examining the perspectives provided by different disciplines, paradigms and theories in the management literature. These are compared with the views of the popular business press and with the students’ views as managers. The academic research is analysed in terms of its philosophical and methodological assumptions. A range of contemporary issues is studied this way. Students will be required to focus on one area of interest, developing a review and critique of academic and popular publications, and relating these to their workplace. Students will present their findings in a seminar. Students may use the opportunity to undertake background work for their dissertation
