This unit investigates both the nature of visual art and the role of the arts in the school and wider community in Australia. The kinds of learning experienced in art lessons are the focus of planning lessons and projects. The contribution of language to learning in visual art is considered and strategies for enhancing literacy in the content area are suggested.
