M17 Bachelor of Education (Primary)

The Bachelor of Educatiuon (Primary) qualifies graduates to teach junior, middle and upper primary students in government and non-government schools across Australia.

 

The award is granted after the successful completion of four years of fulltime study (or up to eight years of part-time study) and aims to develop professional knowledge, competencies, dispositions and graduate teacher attributes.

 

The degree includes compulsory units in education, curriculum and pedagogical studies.  Discipline units are taught outside the Faculty.  Students can elect to study in one indepth discipline area and can complete one major curriculum enrichment project in a field of their choice.

On returning from ATP each student will elect to take up an enrichment project in an area in which he/she wants to enhance his/her knowledge, skills and understanding. This option can be offered in Semester 8 as a summer school fee paying option or as an optional overlaod, resulting in early completion for students who desire and gain approval to do so. Honours Program
This curriculum enrichment project provides a foundation for completing a research dissertation. A small group of high achieving students will be invited to undertake the Research pathway option This option is designed to meet the needs of students wishing to undertake research based higher degree study in the course of their future career. The pathway is designed to develop research skills and a research-oriented, reflective approach to teaching.
