U33 / V19 Post Graduate Diploma of Midwifery | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery prepares competent, confident beginning midwife practitioners for the challenge of contemporary midwifery practice. Graduates meet the Australian College of Midwives' Competency Standards as well as the requirements for registration as a midwife in Division One of the register of the Nurses Board of Western Australia.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor of Nursing or its equivalent is required for admission. Applicants who do not meet this criterion may be admitted to the course following the submission of a professional portfolio. Applicants must be eligibile for registration as a nurse in Division One of the register of the Nurses Board of Western Australia.
COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY Churchlands campus by full or part time study.
COURSE STRUCTURE The Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery is a twelve month course, which combines intensive periods of theoretical study with extensive clinical practice. Students are employed three to five days per week over a year in a sponsoring hospital.
