V55 Bachelor of Arts (Education)/Bachelor of Arts (Creative Arts) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This double degree program is primarily designed to prepare students for a career in teaching the creative and performing arts in the secondary school system. Students will specialize in either Jazz, Art or Drama Studies and related performing arts. Students combine professional education studies with specialist content studies in two teaching areas. Graduates will have a qualification in both Education and the creative arts and will be a highly skilled and knowledgeable practitioners allowing them to access a wide range of career-related opportunities.
COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY The course comprises of thirty six units of study (or 480 credit points) with sixteen units being studied in each degree course. The course is available by full-time or part-time study on Mount Lawley campus.
SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
SPECIAL EXIT POINTS Students who complete only three years of study will be able to qualify for a Bachelor of Arts (Creative Arts) subject to meeting the course structure of that award.
Graduates will qualify as four-year trained teachers and be able to meet teacher registration requirements in all Australian states.
NOTES This course is a concurrent form of teacher education where the student is able to combine studies in Education, Drama Studies, Music, Visual Arts and related performing arts areas. This combination is maintained throughout the four years of study.
A feature of the course is an extensive program of professional practice in secondary schools that commences in year 3 and culminates in the Assistant Teacher Program (10 weeks) in the final year.
The course provides a clear balance of content studies, professional studies and professional practice.
COURSE STRUCTURE The structure of the new degree will be a 14 unit major in a stream (Visual Arts, Jazz, Dramatic Arts). |
