MINOR OR SUPPORTING MAJOR

Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) students typically choose a Minor, or Supporting Major, from health and human science areas, social sciences, arts or business. Psychology, with its focus on human behaviour, is ideally suited for study in combination with many other disciplines. There are now psychological specialisations in areas such as clinical, forensic and community, all of which are offered at Master degree level. Psychology also fits well with disciplines such as philosophy, and has applications in emerging areas such as marketing, leisure, and tourism. Students majoring in psychology may wish to discuss their Minor and Elective program with the course coordinator or student support officer.

NOTE: For those students wishing to do honours in Psychology it is strongly recommended that you complete all four Psychology electives listed below, in addition to the major Psychology units.

NOTE: There are limited places available for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) who wish to transfer at the end of second year to the Bachelor of Social Work. Students who wish to undertake this pathway into Social Work must contact the Undergraduate Co-ordinator for the School of Psychology and the Program Director for the School of International, Cultural and Community Studies prior to the commencement of their studies.
