Internship semester
Depending on availability of placements in schools, high achieving students who have a maximum of four units left to complete their degrees may be offered the opportunity to undertake their final semester of study via an internship position teaching in a school. Interested students will be expected to complete an expression of interest prior to commencing their ATP and to liaise with the primary internship coordinator.
Once the internship is confirmed, students should enrol in:

NOTES
1. *Signals this unit will be taught across ECS/ Primary.
2. It is important to note that not all students take the same units each semester. To accommodate student numbers, half of the cohort enrols in a particular unit in any one semester. For example, in Year One, Semester 1, half the cohort will enrol in AED1100 while the remaining students will complete PHE1102. Students will enrol in PPA1160 in the semester as they enrol in AED1100.
3. #Signals that in Year 1 half the cohort will enrol in PPA1160 School Experience Practice in Semester 1, while the remaining students will complete PPA1160 in Semester 2.
4. In semester 1 of Year 2 students undertake an Enriched Curriculum Teaching Practice.
5. Catholic Education Accreditation requires two general studies units in Catholic Studies plus one Catholic Education Elective.
6. In Year 1 of the program students undertake structured School Experience. In each of years 2, 3 and 4 of the program students undertake professional (teaching) practice.
7. In the fourth year, students undertake an Assistant Teacher Program comprising one term of approximately ten weeks of continuous teaching practice in a primary school. The Assistant Teacher Program is conducted during the seventh semester across the normal second term of the school year.
8. In fourth year students will complete two six hour units in the ATP semester.
9. For additional information on Teaching Practice refer to the Professional Practice Information, Procedures and Rules printed at the end of the School of Education section.
10. All students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) are required to demonstrate competency in literacy and numeracy. Student assignments and examinations must be of an appropriate academic standard.
