Q76 / H58 Master of Social Science (Human Services - Program Development)

This is a fee paying coursework and project Master of Social Science award which focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of human service programs for people with developmental, sensory, physical, and psychiatric disabilities, and disabilities associated with ageing.  It provides a sound conceptual and practical understanding of disability and the importance of services being coherent with the need of people with disabilities and their families.

The course is available in the external mode.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students who have completed a bachelor degree and have demonstrated sound academic performance may apply for admission.  Relevant studies at undergraduate level include:

 

Aboriginal Studies

Children and Family Studies

Health Studies

Human Services

Justice Studies

Leisure Sciences

Psychology

Youth Work

 

Students who have completed a graduate diploma in any of the fields of study listed above may apply for admission.

 

Students who have completed an honours degree in a relevant field of study may apply for exemptions.  Students will be expected to have had substantial experience in the field of human services.

 

COURSE STRUCTURE

Students are required to complete the equivalent of six semester units in the first year of the course.  In the second year students will undertake a project preparation unit and a project on an approved topic.

At the completion of Stage 1 students may be eligible to exit with a Post Graduate Diploma of Social Science (Human Services - Program Development). Applications must be made in the semester prior to completion of Stage 1.
