YWK1104 Youth Rights and Responsibilities

Description:

This unit will focus on the structural position of young people in Australian society, especially as enshrined in the legal system, and its implications for youth work practice. This will include an examination of the impact of legislation, including international covenants, on youth affairs policy and practices.  This unit will also include an examination of issues to do with young people and public space; the criminal justice process; the role of the children’s court; statutory responsibilities of relevant Government Departments; and the role of youth workers in supporting young people in trouble with the law.
