Description:
This unit provides an introduction to the epidemiological concepts necessary for studying and understanding the relationship between human health and exposures and hazards in the workplace. Topics covered include definition and history of epidemiology; health indices and sources of health information; epidemiological research design; epidemiological associations and causality; presentation of epidemiological data; the investigation of disease outbreaks; socioeconomic and occupational differentials in health status; and epidemiology and public health policy.
