This unit provides an introduction to the teaching and learning of secondary school mathematics. The fundamentals of lesson planning will be discussed, and students will have the opportunity to plan a variety of mathematics lessons, consistent with the Unit Curriculum, embodying the meaningful use of a variety of strategies and learning aids, including calculators and computers. The role of problem solving and investigations, in the teaching and learning of mathematics will be addressed. Students will have the opportunity to use multimedia and work in groups to learn about a variety of teaching strategies suited to the teaching of mathematics. | |||
