This unit will cover the theoretical underpinnings of care for people with dementia and support for their family carers. As well as exploring the pathophysiology of the various types of dementia, the associated trajectories, and the worldwide impact of increases in the number of people with dementia, students will critically examine the evidence basis for practice in this area and relevant legal and ethical issues.
