This unit introduces students to understandings of child sexual abuse by considering both victimology and the behaviour of offenders.  Students consider the aetiology and the explanatory theories of child sexual abuse including single factor biopsychosocial theories and multifactorial approaches.  Students also study aspects of offending including victim selection, offence techniques, offence stimuli and the use made of the internet and of technological advances in offending.  This compulsory unit provides important understandings of the prevalence and incidence of offending and the consequences of child sexual abuse.
