This unit focuses on contemporary issues in early childhood education and pedagogy. Philosophical foundations, current research, policies and practices are explored and critiqued. Early childhood theories of learning, development and management are featured in this unit. Guidelines and frameworks for constructing an effective curriculum for early childhood settings are investigated. The importance of relationships and partnerships with families is considered.
