CMM4106 Psychology, Psychoanalysis and Cinema

Description:
The unit examines the ways in which theories of psychology, psychoanalysis and psychotherapy have been and can be applied within Film Studies. It explains basic psychological and psychoanalytic concepts including Freudian and Jungian theories and then looks at how these have been and can be used within a study of cinema. It asks students to question, explore and apply these approaches to film texts. It focuses particularly on an application of Jungian concepts to film narratives.
