This unit provides a broad coverage of the issues arising in personal financial planning in contemporary Australia. It examines the major alternative investment media available to the individual, their relative returns and risks and their taxation treatment. Retirement planning and the superannuation system are explored in some detail, including their interaction with the social security system.The roles of personal insurance and estate planning in an overall financial plan are also explained.
