The unit includes the study of textile fibres, the properties and care of fibres as related to their chemical structure and testing of fibres, the production and characteristics of yarns and fabrics, and the chemistry of textile finishes. The unit also provides an introduction to basic clothing construction. Students will develop skills in construction techniques and in the use of the sewing machine and the overlocker. | |||
