The theory and practice of database systems. Database design using data modelling including entity-relationship diagrams and normalisation. Structured Query Language(SQL) is used to create, manipulate and access the database. The unit includes practice using a methodology for the design of database systems, important aspects of database administration and an introduction to object database management systems.
