This unit concentrates upon the phenomenon of genocide in history. Commencing with the vexed issue of the definition of genocide, the unit will address a number of historical and sociological issues raised by occurrences of genocide. Its concentration will include the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide, and the experience of indigenous people. The unit will develop an analytical framework for comprehending genocide and encourage students to engage critically with issues of genocide denial. Full Unit Outline | |||
