This unit introduces students to the role of professional organisations in the speech pathology profession. Students will consider issues concerning their obligations and the benefits associated with membership of professional organisations. They will be guided through the requirements and procedures associated with obtaining professional membership and the importance of ongoing professional development. They will also be informed about the options for postgraduate education and the importance of their contribution to professional publication and the skills required to operate effectively in a diverse range of speech pathology clinics.
