This unit comprises a sequence of clinical rotations in a variety of speech pathology practices located in urban and rural hospital settings. Students will participate in all aspects of clinical service delivery involving clients with acquired, developmental and degenerative communication disorders who have voice, fluency or swallowing disorders. Students will be expected to demonstrate the skill, knowledge base, and attitudes required for entry-level practice of speech pathology as specified by Speech Pathology Australia in their Competency-Based Occupational Standards (2001) document. Students will reflect on similarities and differences in the resources, skill levels, management structures, and case mixtures found in urban and rural hospitals. Full Unit Outline | |||
