This unit deals with the representation of Shakespeare’s plays in the cinema. Through the reading of selected texts and viewing of their film versions, students will consider the ways in which various cultures have ‘re-invented’ Shakespeare and how Shakespeare’s plays take on different meanings within various cinematic contexts. | |||
