Recommended pre-requisite: TSM2105 Tourism Planning and Development II.
This unit provides a detailed description and analysis of ecotourism. It will outline the rapid growth of ecotourism as a global phenomenon within the context of the need for environmental conservation. This unit will explain the concepts, definition of, and issues relevant to the subject. Aspects of ecotourism reviewed include planning, development, management, policy and practice. The ecotourism industry will be described focusing on the sectors of attractions, accommodations, ecotours and tourism organisations. A range of case studies will be studied providing students with salient and current examples of ecotourism management practices. A key feature of the unit will be the inclusion of relevant videos, industry speakers and a field trip. Full Unit Outline | |||
