This unit provides the foundation for students' theory and practice development in complex care situations in midwifery. Students study a range of conditions and diseases that may exist before pregnancy or occur as a result of pregnancy, birth and the puerperium. Students utilise research findings, theory and critical problem solving in the development of collaborative models of maternity care. Students promote quality outcomes for midwifery care and demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures that have legal and ethical implications for midwifery.
