H93 Graduate Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory Curriculum Studies)

The GCE-PC is designed for practising teachers who wish to upskill or develop new skills for the implementation of the post compulsory courses of study.  The GCE-PC is a fee-paying program and requires completion of 4 units, which can be completed part time over 1 year and is designed to allow students, through the completion of professional development/credentialled professional learning and related coursework, to enhance their skills and understandings in post compulsory courses of study.

 

The GCE-PC is designed to provide teachers with the necessary discipline, pedogical and curriculum knowledge to develop and maintain advanced teaching and curriculum leadership skills.

 

On completion of this award students can apply for entry into the Master of Education by Coursework. Upon gaining entry advanced standing will be granted for up to three units.

 

SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants will have successfully completed a 4-year Bachelor degree in education, discipline based degree and Graduate Diploma of Education or an equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution. Selection is made on the basis of relevent academic qualifications, teaching experience and willingness to reflect on professional practice at the post compulsory level.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The course is available by part-time study on Mt Lawley and Joondalup campuses. On-line and externally delivered modules may be available based on demand.

 
Four units (4 x 15 = 60 credit points) selected from the following, in consultation with the course cooordinator:

and Two Electives from any discipline area related to Curriculum Council Courses of Study
