INTRODUCTION The Graduate Certificate of Education requires one semester of full-time study or its part-time equivalent, and is designed to allow students to develop or enhance their skills and understandings in particular areas of specialised study. Applicants are usually expected to hold an appropriate degree or approved diploma.
Fee paying course.
The Graduate Certificate of Education, Learning Difficulties, is intended for trained teachers to prepare them for supporting students with specific needs in either a regular classroom or in a special education facility.
The learning difficulties course provides studies of both a theoretical and practical nature. Within this stream teachers will develop an understanding of the learning needs of students with learning difficulties or learning disabilities. This will also provide teachers with the knowledge and understandings of whole school approaches to supporting students at educational risk.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor degree in education, or Diploma of Teaching or degree and Graduate Diploma of Education, or equivalent. Formal teaching/training qualifications are essential. Students are encouraged to apply for Recognition for Prior Learning.
COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY
The course is available by part-time study on Mount Lawley campus. Units are available in on-line mode. |
