V73 Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts

INTRODUCTION

The five-year Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts double degree at Edith Cowan University combines a new law degree program with an existing arts degree program. This challenging educational initiative leads to a double degree.  The double degree provides students with lifelong transferable skills equipping them for employment in a wide range of professions, and for further study in a variety of disciplines.

The course is available full-time or part-time. The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) will be taught at Joondalup Campus.  Certain Bachelor of Arts Majors (currently Philosophy and Religion, Sociology/Anthropology, Social Sciences and Social Justice and Public Advocacy) are taught internally at Joondalup with additional Arts majors available on the Mount Lawley Campus.

Honours

Students who have not more than 60 credit points left to complete to qualify for a Bachelor of Laws degree and who have achieved the required minimum weighted average mark (70%) across previously completed Bachelor of Laws units may be eligible to graduate with Honours by satisfactory completion of LAW4710. Please see the 4th year LLB structure below for further details.

SPECIAL EXIT POINTS

Bachelor of Laws OR Bachelor of Arts can be awarded if sufficient credit points in the relevant program are completed (LLB 480 credit points and BA 360 credit points) and subject to meeting the course structure of that award.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION

The ECU Bachelor of Laws Degree satisfies the academic requirements for the admission of law graduates as legal practitioners in Western Australia.  As with other Bachelor of Laws degrees in Australia, before a law graduate may be admitted to the legal profession in that state or territory, certain additional requirements must be satisfied after completion of the Bachelor of Laws Degree.  For law graduates seeking admission in Western Australia, refer to the Legal Practice Act 2003 (WA).
