Graduate Certificate of Communications

 

INTRODUCTION

The Graduate Certificate of Communications is a one semester full-time or equivalent part-time course designed to provide graduates of other disciplines with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of a specialised field of communications.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The course is available by full-time or part-time study on Mount Lawley campus.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

An appropriate three year degree award from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent.


Media Studies

 

The Graduate Certificate of Communications (Media Studies) introduces students to the ways in which the Media are organised, the social position and power they have and the ways they communicate to audiences.  It also introduces students to a significant range of contemporary theoretical and critical approaches used to analyse media texts, media technologies and their position in the world today.  It trains students to think critically and to communicate effectively.
