D85 / Q83 Post Graduate Diploma of Arts (Dramatherapy)

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The course is available by full-time or part-time study on Mount Lawley campus.

The Post Graduate Diploma of Arts (Dramatherapy) is a one year course comprising four semester long units.  Students may elect to complete the Post Graduate course or may re-apply for entry to the Masters course, of which the Post Graduate Diploma is Stage one.  Successful completion of the Post Graduate Diploma will give students credit for Stage one of the Master of Arts (Dramatherapy) course.

Dramatherapy is the intentional use of drama or theatre processes to achieve therapeutic goals.  Images are evoked through movement, sound, role and story, with a deliberate exploration of the connections between the inner and outer worlds of the client. The Dramatherapist may work with the client in ways that are analogous to the director, the actor, or the witness, making use of text, performance or ritual to enrich the therapeutic and creative process.

Students are taught through a combination of training groups, lectures, presentations and seminars. The course reflects advanced international models of practice and offers training within an innovative setting within the School of Contemporary Arts.
