742 / F63 Post Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care

INTRODUCTION

The Post Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care will provide opportunity for allied health professionals to enhance their level of professional competence in the field of palliative care.  Graduates of this course will have the knowledge and skills necessary to work professionally within an interdisciplinary palliative care team.  Graduates should be considered as allied health specialists in palliative care.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The course will be offered to suitable applicants who hold an undergraduate degree in occupational therapy, pharmacy, social work, nutrition, physio-therapy, psychology, speech therapy, and who are currently working with palliative care patients (either hospital based, hospice based, or community based) or who wish to seek employment in the field of palliative care.

 

COURSE LOCATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The course is available by full-time or part-time external study.

 
The course consists of the following four units:
DCP5101 Issues in Palliative and Cancer Care 20 
DCP5102 Allied Health in Palliative Care 20 
DCP5203 Symptom Control in Palliative Care 20 
DCP5204 Communication Skills in Palliative Care 20 
 
This award articulates with the Post Graduate Diploma of Health Science and Master of Health Science degree.
