G24 Bachelor of Arts (Education)/Bachelor of Communications | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The purpose of this double degree is to provide a realistic and relevant balance between professional education studies and content studies for prospective secondary school teachers of information and communication technologies, computing and related media studies. The course includes theoretical and practical dimensions of communication and includes a major study in Interactive Multimedia in addition to relevant studies in Education.
This course is a concurrent form of teacher education where the student is able to combine studies in both Education and Communications in each semester. In the early stages, greater attention is given to content studies while professional studies tend to dominate the latter semesters.
A feature of the course is an extensive program of professional practice in secondary schools that commences in year 2 and culminates in the Assistant Teacher Program (10 weeks) in the final year.
The course provides a clear balance of content studies, professional studies and professional practice.
Special Exit Points Students who complete only three years of study will be able to qualify for a Bachelor of Communications, subject to meeting the course structure of that award. This usually entails an additional semester. |
