G21 Bachelor of Nursing Honours

INTRODUCTION

The Bachelor of Nursing Honours course comprises a fourth year of study following the completion of  a Bachelor of Nursing course or the equivalent.

 

This course allows students to proceed with a program which is academically more demanding and designed to enhance critical thinking and clinical judgement skills. Students are required to complete a substantial research project and are exposed to theoretical nursing knowledge, quantitative and qualitative research methods in order to undertake future roles in nursing leadership and clinical practice.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students who have completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Nursing course may apply to enter the Honours program.

 

Preference is given to applicants who have demonstrated a high degree of academic excellence and application to clinical practice characterised by a course average above seventy per cent.

This course is available on Joondalup Campus.

This course is available by Full-time, or Part-time mode.

This course is available in the following modes of delivery - On-campus, and Online.
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

The Course consists of three Units of study in  the first semester. A research thesis is undertaken in the second semester. Normal student progression is described below:

 
Semester 1
RES510C Research Preparation: Qualitative Approaches 20 
RES510D Research Preparation: Quantitative Research Methods 20 
HNU5105 Honours Proposal 20 
 
Semester 2
HNU5102 Thesis Development 20 
HNU5103 Thesis Development 20 
HNU5104 Thesis Development 20 
 
In Semester 2, full-time students enrol in HNU5102, HNU5103, and HNU5104. Part-time students enrol in one or two HNU units (in numerical sequence) until all three semester 2 units have been completed and the thesis is submitted for examination.
