Y17 Bachelor of Health Science Honours

Health and wellbeing are critical components of life. This course provides an opportunity for the highest quality Bachelor of Health Science graduates to enhance their qualification by undertaking a public health research project.  This course is designed to produce graduates who have the confidence and skills required to obtain employment in entry-level positions in the population health workforce. The course is also designed to provide students with the prerequisite skills for postgraduate study. The Honours program in Health Science comprises a fourth year of study or its part-time equivalent after students have completed the third year of the Bachelor of Health Science or its equivalent. This is a one-year full-time (or part-time equivalent) course consisting of six units worth 20 credit points each. A total of 120 credit points is required to complete the degree.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Health Science degree or equivalent three-year undergraduate degree in a related field. It should be noted that this course commences Semester One each year (i.e. mid-year entry is not available).  Special admission requirements are outlined below.

 
SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible to be invited to apply for admission students will normally require an overall course weighted average mark of 70% or higher; an average of 70% or higher in Major units; or an average of 70% or higher in level two and level three units of the Bachelor of Health Science.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Students are required to complete six units totalling 120 credit points to complete the course. Students must complete three coursework units and three thesis development units culminating in the submission of a thesis for examination.
