Y03 Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Communications

The Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Communications double degree is designed to enable students to succeed in today’s rapidly changing society. It will broaden students’ understanding of themselves, their community and the larger world as well as provide them with the theoretical and practical dimensions of communication. It is a challenging educational program leading to a degree which is internationally recognised in the global marketplace. The double degree provides students with lifelong transferable skills equipping them for employment in a wide range of professions, including Communications professions, and for further study in a variety of disciplines.

COURSE STRUCTURE
 
Arts Foundation program (30 credit points)
Students must complete the following foundation program of 30 credit points (2 units):
HMN1101 Home and Away: Introducing the Humanities 15
HMN1102 What is Knowledge? 15
 
In addition, students must complete the following capstone unit in their final semester of study:
HMN3111 BA Preparation for Professional Life 15
 
Communications Foundation program (120 credit points)
Students must complete the following two compulsory core units (30 credit points):
CMM1101 Reading Media Texts 15
CMM1108 Communications and Digital Technology 15
 
Plus students should select a further 30 credit points (2 units) from the following:
CCA1101 Contexts of Modernity 15
CCA1102 Representation and Interpretation 15
CCA1103 Creativity: Theory, Practice and History 15
CMM1107 Creative Thinking 15
CMM1109 Cyberculture Studies 15
CMM1113 Media and Social Context 15
 
To complete the Communications Foundation Program, students should select 60 credit points (four units) from the list of elective units recommended in the chosen area of specialisation. Any unit already completed as a Foundation core unit cannot be counted again as an elective.
