I39 Master of Science (Computer Science)

The Master of Science (Computer Science) by coursework is a two year (240 credit point) course designed for those graduates with a background in the field who wish to expand their areas of knowledge and expertise. Students select one of four areas of specialisation as well as completing core units covering professionalism, project management and the execution of a substantial industry related project. Students may exit after two semesters (120 credit points) with the Graduate Diploma of Science (Computer Science).

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The normal admission requirements are a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Systems or closely related fields OR equivalent prior learning including at least five years of appropriate professional experience.

COURSE STRUCTURE

Students must complete the programme outlined below. All semester enrolments are subject to unit availability and students must consult the Course Coordinator prior to enrolment. All three elective units should be selected from a single area of specialisation.

 
YEAR ONE - SEMESTER 1
Students must complete the following core units:
 
CSI5113 Principles of Project Management 20 
CSI5108 IT Professionalism and Practice 20 
Plus one unit from their area of specialisation listed below (20 credit points)
 
YEAR ONE - SEMESTER 2
Students must complete three units from their areas of specialisation as listed below. (20 credit points each)
 
 
YEAR TWO - SEMESTER 1
Students must complete the core unit listed below:
 
CSI5150 Project Preparation 20 
OR
CSG5141 Research Proposal 20 
Plus two elective units chosen from a second area of specialisation as listed below. (20 credit points each)
