K28 Bachelor of Writing

The Bachelor of Writing will provide a common identity for students sharing a passion for writing. It will enable students to develop skills in many diverse genres of writing as well as nurture a capacity for creativity. The degree is both flexible and diverse.  Students will be able to study several areas of writing and publishing including autobiography and biography, poetry, drama, fiction, writing therapy, community writing, scriptwriting as well as technical, scientific and business report writing. There is also the opportunity to work in additional complementary fields such as Journalism, Editing, Literature including Children's Literature, History, Politics and the Environment.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The course will comprise 24 units (360 credit points) over a full-time enrolment of three years.  Suggested course of study:

Students must complete the following core units:
WRT1101 Language and Writing 15
WRT1103 Creativity and Writing 15
 
Plus 60 credit points selected from:
CMM1104 Writing for the Media * 15
CMM1108 Communications and Digital Technology * 15
FAV1101 Introduction to Digital Video * 15
IMM1122 Publishing on the World Wide Web * 15
WRT1110 Introduction to Editing 15
 
* denotes a unit serving multiple majors.

Students must choose TWO first-year electives or TWO units from their second major (or minor where applicable) if their second major (or minor) is in a different degree.
