This unit explores the relationships between technology and culture from a humanities perspective. Students will gain an understanding of what it means to live within 21st century cyberculture by examining how key technologies mediate our communication, interactions, and understanding of the world. In particular, the unit provides historical, philosophical, and aesthetic perspectives on the computer and the Internet, hypertext and hypermedia, virtual reality, robots and cyborgs, and music.
