CPP2104 Curriculum Decision Making and Pedagogical Practices: Music Education
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 12

Description:

Module 1 will engage pre-service students in music making activities, developing an appreciation for and an understanding of the elements of music.  They will interrogate the musical stages of human development with a view to developing an understanding of planning for learners in responsive and inclusive ways.  The students, using the Curriculum Framework as a core resource, together with a range of contemporary resources will generate and implement a series of class and group activities that will undergo peer review and critique.

Module Two will invite the pre-service students to continue to explore music across time and cultures, particularly Indigenous cultures, with a view to enhancing and extending their music literacies. Concurrently, they will develop a repertoire of pedagogical, planning and assessment skills that will

actively engage them in developing culturally inclusive, developmentally appropriate and coherent teaching and learning plans designed to develop the full potential of a diverse range of learners in primary contexts.
