This unit examines the role of the Health and Physical Education Learning Area (HPE) in the context of the school community and in developing and promoting competencies such as learning, literacy, numeracy, technology and communication in children and adolescents. Alongside developing and extending practical and theoretical knowledge in teaching, coaching and performing a series of sports and games, with a major focus on the upper primary and early secondary years of schooling, students will engage in approaches to HPE that promote integration with other learning areas. Enhancing school/community links within rural, regional and remote settings will be investigated.
