MAAAAH  Accounting Major  

This unit set is available in the following courses:

Provides students with a strong foundation in accounting theory and principles as well as practical skills in accounting and related areas. This major also develops students' capacity for inquiry, abstract logical thinking and critical analysis, as well as communication and interpersonal skills that will enable them to work in various collaborative contexts with accountants and non-accountants. This will open doors to a wide range of careers in accounting, financial management, financial services and business leadership.
 

Potential careers exist in public practice, industry and government, as well as consulting in areas such as auditing, financial accounting, management accounting, and taxation and corporation law. In recent years, opportunities for accountants in allied business functions, such as treasury, superannuation, financial planning, corporate planning, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reconstructions and insolvency have also been increasing.
 
Additional units will be required to meet accreditations with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), CPA Australia (CPAA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
