I54 Master of Management Information Systems

The Master of Management Information Systems provides an internationally portable qualification accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). It is relevant to employment of both information technology (IT) and non-IT professionals and graduates can apply for professional membership of the ACS.  These professionals recognise the need to acquire knowledge and managerial skills with respect to the role and pervasiveness of information and communications technology and its associated management implications in contemporary organisations. 

 

Management Information Systems (MIS) describes the broad opportunities for supporting the application of technologies to business. The study of ebusiness and enterprise systems is an integral part of this area. The Master of MIS specifically addresses the business and technology issues arising from enterprise use of IT and covers technological, managerial and strategic issues.

 

The course offers a Master of Management Information Systems qualification in one of three specialist areas:

Electronic Commerce

Information Systems

Enterprise Systems

 

Students may be able to fast-track and complete the course in 1 1/2 years.

 

Students who are unable to complete the course and have completed 120 credit points (8 units) from the units listed may be eligible to exit with the relevant Graduate Diploma of Business (either Information Systems, Enterprise Systems or Electronic Commerce) with Course Coordinator approval.

OR

Students who are unable to complete the course and have completed 60 credit points (4 units) from the units listed may be eligible to exit with the relevant Graduate Certificate of Business (either Information Systems, Enterprise Systems or Electronic Commerce) with Course Coordinator approval.

 

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Available to applicants with a recognised undergraduate degree, or successful completion of a Graduate Certificate.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The Master of Management Information Systems is composed of four core units plus eight elective units from a specialist area. The qualification consists of a total of 12 units of 15 credit points for a total of 180 credit points.
