Description:

This unit examines the lives of Indigenous families and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in the context of contemporary Australian society. Family processes and child rearing are explored from a number of theoretical and cultural perspectives. The unit is designed to help students to become more critically aware of possible cultural biases in their own thinking about the family, as well as in wider social policies and programs.
