LSC1102 Leisure Leadership and Programming

Description:
This unit involves a study of the major styles and theories of leadership with an emphasis on diagnosing the leadership potential of individuals and suggesting ways to increase leader effectiveness in leisure and recreation settings. It will use practical activities to demonstrate leadership in group dynamics, the importance of communications and introduce concepts such as leadership attributes for the organisational change process. It also examines recreation programming concepts, the process of programme planning, design, budgeting, promotion and evaluation. Students are also provided with the opportunity of gaining experiential knowledge of recreation programming during a short-term industry practical placement and the development of career and employee resources.
