MUS1516 Music History: Classical Overview

Description:

This unit is an introductory survey of the history of western music from the Middle Ages up until the end of the nineteenth century. It explores major stylistic periods and trends, prevalent cultural themes, key compositional and formal devices, significant composers, and representative works. Emphasis is also placed on the acquisition of skills in critical listening, basic research, and written communication.
