ICS3052 The Cultures of Nations: Internationalism, Cosmopolitanism and Globalisation

Description:

This unit introduces the 19th century European concept of national cultures, establishes their relationship to colonial practices, and briefly examines the twentieth century debates surrounding internationalism, cosmopolitanism and the contemporary phenomenon of globalisation. Students are presented with varying historical, theoretical and existing models of cultural management at a national and international level.  In this unit students will be introduced to the policies of multi, cross and intercultural practices, and will consider the impact of digital technologies on the integrity of the nation state.
