G95 Bachelor of Business

The Bachelor of Business equips students with the theory, practical experience and transferable employability skills, including leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, communication and problem solving, needed to succeed in a wide range of business careers.
Students have the flexibility to choose from 14 majors and can elect to complete the course with either:
- one major in a Business discipline; or
- two majors in a Business discipline.

- Law in Business
- Management
- Marketing
- Planning

- Project Management
- Public Practice (Only available in conjunction with an Accounting major at Bunbury campus)
- Sport Management
- Tourism and Hospitality Management

 

 

All majors are created in consultation with industry and many are professionally recognised and accredited. Students benefit from relevant and internationally credible course content that provides practical industry experience, networking opportunities and a broad range of career options after graduating.

ADVANCED STANDING

Students who have completed equivalent units at another institution may apply for advanced standing for those units.

 

 
COURSE LOCATION
This course is available on Mt Lawley, Joondalup, and Bunbury Campuses.

Mount Lawley campus offers part-time study only and not all Majors or units in a Major may be available on this campus. Bunbury campus offers majors in Accounting, Management and Public Practice only.
 
MODE OF STUDY
This course is available by Full-time, or Part-time mode.
 
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course is available in the following modes of delivery - On-campus, and Online.

Business Core units and Business Edge units are available off-campus (online). Note: Only the majors of Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Law in Business, Management, Marketing and Planning can be completed entirely off-campus (online) however the full selection of elective units may not be available.
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

The Bachelor of Business degree requires a minimum of 360 credit points (24 units) and normally requires three years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent.

Requirements:

  • No more than 180 credit points (12 units) completed at level one.
  • A minimum of 60 credit points (4 units) completed at level three.
  • Students must complete the 4 Business Edge units and a minimum of 5 Business Core units.
  • Prerequisite units must be passed before enrolment in succeeding units.  In certain circumstances this requirement may be waived by the relevant Major Co-ordinator.
  • In general, all level one Business Core units must be completed before level two units are studied and level two units before level three units.
  • In general, the Business Edge units must be completed sequentially with BES3100 taken in the final semester or year of study.

All students are required to complete the core units (Business Edge and Business Core units) plus one of the two options indicated.

 

Students can choose between the following programs:

 

Option 1 - program with one Business major; or

Option 2 - program with two Business majors.

* A Business major program consists of 120 credit points (8 units) of study and includes one additional Business Core unit. All units listed in the major must be completed to satisfy the requirements of that major.

 

** A Supplementary program consists of 120 credit points (8 units) of study and comprises of:

  • a minor program from inside and/or outside the Faculty plus electives; or
  • two minors from the Faculty of Business and Law; or
  • a major program from outside the Faculty; or
  • an elective program.
     

 

 

Option 2. Bachelor of Business with two Business majors.

This unit is designed specifically for students who require assistance in gaining competency in academic literacy.

Academic literacy includes a range of skills such as reading and responding to academic texts, writing appropriately for different contexts and reflecting critically on knowledge. The unit will provide opportunities for students to acquire the discourse relevant to their discipline through the use of contemporary material relevant to national and international business.
